Charity & Purpose-led
Small budgets, real constraints, and no room for waste.
Brand, positioning and funding work for charities and purpose-led businesses. The constraint here is rarely ambition: it’s that every pound spent on marketing is a pound not spent on the mission, so the strategy has to be right first time.
The work //
What I’m usually brought in to do
- Building a charity’s brand, website and public face from scratch
- Brand and positioning for organisations with a mission to explain
- Grant applications, bids and award submissions
- Marketing strategy built for genuinely limited budgets
- Making the case to funders, trustees and commissioners

What’s usually going on //
Purpose-led organisations often undersell themselves because talking about impact feels like boasting. Funders and commissioners aren’t reading modesty as integrity; they’re reading it as a weak case.
In practice //
Brand, communications and website for The Ashbrook Foundation: a new grant-making charity taken from a name and an intention to a working public face in a matter of weeks. The tone of voice, the grantee storytelling, and a site designed and built through a headless CMS, with build and ongoing development run through Claude Enterprise, so there is no developer on the payroll. Alongside launches like this, grant, bid and award support across the sector, at the moments where the right funding changes what’s possible.
Selected work //
The Ashbrook Foundation
A brand-new grant-making foundation with a name, a founder and some money to give away, and nothing else. No brand, no website, no public voice.
Most relevant here //
Bid Writing
"The difference between a good project and a funded one is the bid."
Brand & Positioning
What you stand for. Who you’re for. Why it matters.
Marketing Strategy
Stop guessing. Start with a plan that connects to revenue.
